2023 Delco Annual Report

Year End Letter

I hope this letter finds you in great spirits! I wanted to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for being a financial supporter of our church. By God’s grace, our church is thriving, and you played a big part in making it happen. This year has been filled with exciting moments, and we wanted to share some highlights with you.

  • A focus this year was on growing in godliness and wisdom. We preached through a series called By Design, in which we looked at God’s design for men, women, and families. We also conducted a multi-week parenting course where we looked at how the gospel and scripture teach us to raise our children in the wisdom and knowledge of the Lord.
  • We had our largest worship gathering attendance since our initial Sunday gathering. On Easter we broke the 100 person barrier; that's 100 people celebrating the resurrection of our savior with us!
  • This summer and fall the Lord met our need for new volunteers on our Citylight Kids team. We are so thankful to the Lord for the number of children he has brought to our church and for those in our church that care for them with gospel intentionality.

All of these things are only possible because our physical needs are provided for by people like you. They all took tremendous effort and resources provided by our wonderful donors.

In the upcoming year we are hoping to continue to grow in both size and maturity. Would you join us in praying? I am praying for 15 new members this year. I am also praying that God would send us new converts or use us to make new disciples. Specifically, we would like to baptize 5 individuals this year. One verse I have been praying for our people this new year is 2 Timothy 2:3-7.

Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.

I want to be a church that works incredibly hard to see people changed by Christ. This is not a time to rest on our laurels but to make advancements for the Kingdom of God right here in Delaware County. Thank you for partnering with us in that, and I pray that the Lord would continue to use your partnership for his glory.

Grace and peace,

2023 Stories

Accreditation with the Christian and Missionary Alliance

The most exciting update to share is that, after hard work in 2023, we kicked off 2024 by becoming an accredited church of our denomination, the Christian and Missionary Alliance. At our accreditation service we installed elders and deacons as well as heard testimonies from a few covenant members. We have been explaining this accomplishment by saying that it is a lot like graduating from high school and moving out on your own. This milestone is something we had always been aiming to achieve since we launched Citylight Delco as a church plant in 2019. We are thankful for all the support and help from Citylight Manayunk, and because of their responsible leadership, we are now an independent church. We look forward to continuing to serve our community in even more localized and contextualized ways while still partnering with the other Citylight churches for years to come.

FinancialUpdate

Thank you!

As Pastor Andy wrote above, we have seen the Lord work in different ways in 2023 to strengthen His church. In addition to marks of maturity within the body of Christ we experienced financial security. These characteristics along with other factors gave us the confidence to move ahead with accreditation. Many of you have helped do the necessary work to become an accredited local church by faithfully giving your financial resources and participating in making disciples. Thank you for this sign of eagerness to invest in the Kingdom of God.

Below you’ll see a very basic look at our planned income vs expenses for the past two fiscal years. Our fiscal years run from July through June so we are currently 50% through fiscal year 2023-24.

As we move into 2024 we are embracing a feeling of excitement as to how the Lord might use us as a newly accredited church. The process of accreditation concluded with an official service and celebration. As we came out of that weekend, the other elders and I felt a strong sense of unity among our members. Would you please pray with us that the Lord would keep that in place and galvanize us even more this year? We are hopeful that this year will bring about even more gospel fruit in our church and in our community including new members joining our church, numerous baptisms, and a growth in our children’s ministry. All of this is possible because of your ongoing generosity. Thank you for modeling Christ and giving to the work of the gospel in Delaware County.

In Christ,
Pastor Dan
